More Information

Originally contracted by Greenway & Partners Ltd (GAPL) to design a Solar PV scheme for a Broughton Sports Pavilion in Milton Keynes we designed a 24.68kWp Solar PV system to be installed on the Sedum roof.

When the project eventually came to fruition we were contracted to work for Borras Construction Ltd. The project was designed to achieve BREEM Code of Excellence, which the Code for Sustainable Built Environment. This provided its own challenges as all aspects of our design and installation has to be analysed before delivery including limiting our journeys to site, removal of all waste and then recycling of waste and all aspects of Carbon reduction associated with the project.

The installation itself was a challenge with the system split over 2 roofs that would eventually be surrounded by Sedum. The mounting system had to fix to the roof with only a minimum number of connections so working with our favoured Solar mounting manufacturer Schueco UK Ltd, who happened to be located less than 2 miles away, we designed, supplied and installed a bespoke raft like design that was suspended above the roof. We then mounted 105 Schueco MPE235 panels on the system which were linked to 2 SMA Tri Power inverters.

The whole design has proved to be a great success for the local community with the project being handed over to Milton Keynes Council on time and within budget. In March 2014 the building was awarded its coveted  BREEM Code of Excellence Certificate.
